Two issues on a stock Ubuntu 10.04 install:

sudo ln -s /usr/share/redmine/public/ /var/www/redmine/
should be:
sudo ln -s /usr/share/redmine/public/ /var/www/redmine

and at the end do a:
sudo service apache2 restart

This got it working for me.

Hi!
I run the steps, but how enter in url http://my-domain.com/redmine-dir just show: The directory “/var/www” does not appear to be a valid Ruby on Rails application root. Anyone ever had this problem?
